Updates! Get Your Updates!
Alright, so it has been a while since I've been able to update. I've been pretty busy. So here it goes, no one knows when I'll have time to do this again.
Work has been going good. It's been busy. I've ended my days in meetings. I go to approximately 3 to 4 meetings a week that go beyond the time of the shift. This sucks, but its still work. We've begun a New Year, and I've started to write End-Of-Year Reviews for all of my 32 employees. Last week one of the people that I supervise passed away. They had worked at Hallmark for 18 years. They were only 48 years old. It's been pretty somber... But that is understandable. About 6 months ago, a 2nd shifter was killed in a motorcycle accident, and things are the same now as they were then. It's tough, but I am sure that everyone will be alright.
Sarah and I are doing better than ever. She's getting a tummy and I can feel (sometimes see) the baby moving. We've had an ultrasound and everything looks good. We still don't know the sex, and we don't plan on finding out. We value God's plan and are looking forward to finding out for ourselves.
We have been working on the nursery now for the last two weeks and will hopefully have it near completion by the end of the week. Sarah's parents will be coming down to assist with a few things that go above our heads. Her dad is going to help me lay the new trim down, prep some doors for hanging, and check a few other potentially needed fixes around the house. We finally had some handymen come in and put our house to code on the outlets around water sources.
We recently purchased some new living room furniture which looks really nice. We finally got rid of the old stuff last Friday. We have had the old couch sitting in our dining room for last month and a half now... It's finally gone.
Two weekends ago, Sarah and I made a trip to Kansas City to pick-up some baby stuff. We purchased a baby crib, nursery organizer, and travel system. So, we have purchased most of the important stuff that we'll need immediately after birth. The downside of this... It all needs to be assembled... Which is my job.
The nursery is coming along very well. In the last two weeks, we've torn up the old trim, primed it, coated it with 2 layers of white paint, taped strips and alternated white and yellow. Recently we made trip to Lows, spending well over $400 on new doors, new trim, paint, and also some foam board required for another general house repair. As much as I hate to post pictures on blogger. I plan once again to finally post some pictures of our house that we've been in for almost more than a year now and then plenty of pictures of the new nursery. I wish I had before pictures, because it is a 180 degree change from the old light brown walls that were there previous.
Another fun little spontaneous thing Sarah and I have decided to do include getting out of Topeka one last time before birth of our child. We're going to hit the airways and travel to Florida for a couple of days... We're going to stay with some good friends of Sarah our first night there in Orlando. They are going to give us their extra car and from there the next day we'll head to Coca Beach, where we are staying at a hotel in a room that boasts a balcony with ocean views. We'll stay there for two nights and the travel back to Orlando, return the car and then stay at a Disney resort for the last night. Then travel out early that next morning to head back to Topeka. As you can tell, I am really looking forward to it.
Well, I thinking I've covered the most urgent of the updates. Life is good. We are both looking forward to getting the nursery completed and then traveling to Florida for a short little get away. I'll try and keep posting more regularly. I just hope the next time I post I'm not putting up pictures of the house, nursery and new born child. Like I said, when the nursery is complete... I'll post pics. When the baby comes, I'll probably dedicate him or her their own post. Take everyone.
