50ft trench... Naw... 10ft'll do
I hurt guys... badly... Since we've purchased the house Topeka has been hit by monsoon style storms that dump a lot of rain. Unfortunately, all this rain drains down from our neighbors yard and then pools in our side yard. So, I figured I'd dig a 10ft trench fill it with perforated piping with a sock style cover around to keep dirt out... Well, the project is nearly 95% complete. This afternoon I completed digging and what now is a 50' trench a little more than a foot deep, purchased more perforated piping and socking. Most of it is now covered, but some of it is still to wet to complete work on. I'm about 6' short of where I need to be, so I'll also have to run by and pick up another 10ft section. No worries, I've already dug out the rest of the trench that the end section will fit into. Since I've got a final tomorrow evening I won't be able to finish the project until Thursday. The nice thing however, is that the yard received minimal damage, about 10ft of the 50 was already mud, and then the rest of it didn't even have grass on it anyways due to water puddling on the surface. Hopefully this solution works. We'll find out, that or once mid summer hits, we'll be begging for rain.
