50 Reasons I Love You and One Hundred Balloons Later
Sarah and I celebrated our 8 months together today. I kind of went all out. Took the entire day... I figured I would combine valentines day into the whole scheme of things. So, I went out, bought a hundred balloons with big hearts on them, some fake rose petals (I would have gotten the real thing, but the price and the fact that they dry out fast didn't make much sense to me), and a fifty pack of pastel colors. I spent about two hours filling up balloons. I found out that our cat Max is terrified of balloons. He spent the majority of the day in the bedroom. After about fifty balloons there was no room for him to move down the hallway. I took the fifty pack of paper, printed out a heart template on card stock, and cut out a buncha hearts. Then I proceeded to number them and then write a reason why I loved Sarah on every one of them.
As time ticked away and it got closer to the time she'd be getting of at the hospital, I proceeded to hoard the balloons into the bedroom, lay out the hearts in a trail around the apartment to the bedroom, and drop the rose petals along the trail. Well before time was too late, I ran to the flower shop and purchased eight Gerber daises (Sarah's favorite). So when I was done with all the above, I took the flowers and waited in the utility room until she came home (I called her earlier asking to call me when she got off, I was running some "errands" and was running a little late to make dinner....). That way I had an idea of when she'd be here.
Just to give her an idea, I printed out a couple sheets of paper. One read "Let Me Tell You Fifty Reasons I Love You" and placed it on the front door. The other Said "Happy Anniversary and First Valentines Day As Newly Weds And Also Another 100 Reasons Why I Love You" and taped it to the door to our bedroom.
I heard her come in the front door, and proceed along the trail of hearts. When I heard her open the bedroom door, I came out of the utility room with the flowers. While this whole stunt took me the better part of the day (about 7 hours) to coordinate and complete, it was well worth it. With all this said and done I told her that she could be in charge of Valentines Day. I am taking that day off. I nearly passed about 3 times manually inflating 100 balloons and almost cut my finger off while cutting out the fifty multicolor hearts, which she liked so much she plans on keep them.
Sarah wants to keep the balloons out in the living room, which I think is nuts. They were layered on top of each other in the bedroom, sometimes 3 deep. Right now we've scooted them all over to the kitchen table area (so Max can have his bedroom back). It's crazy. I plan on posting the pictures up here shortly with this post. So come back and take a look towards the bottom of this post in a few days. I should have them up by then.
Okay, so I couldn't wait, I've decided to post the pictures now. You can click on them, which will open up a seperate window, with a bigger view of the picture.
