The First Week at Work

Wow, that was a week quasi in hell. For the first thing, Farm Bureau is a great place to work, the people are great, I get my own office with a door and a window (oh my God), yes office with window and door. The downfall, and what I am helping them with is going to drive me insane. Is it worth it? Yea, I think so... Let me explain. Farm Bureau sells insurance-auto, boat, home, life and of course farm and livestock. When they started out in the ancient days they had a program that created individual policies with a contract for each one. This means that if you have 2 homes, 3 cars, and a boat, you would have 5 separate contracts of insurance. Now, here is where I come in. Recently, they have decided to update the system, they are now using a new program that combines all of the policies, essentially converting 5 policies into one multipolicy package, which will save the holders a decent amount of money. My job is to take all of the previous policies and take them from the old system (which is extremely hard on the eyes and mind) and convert them over to the new program, which is a godsend. So, like I said, I have my hands full, and I work good to decent hours, when I am finished with training on both the old system and the new system I can basically make my own hours as long as I get the work done efficiently. Anyhoo, all in all the first full week went great. I am glad I held out for them. It took about 2 months and 3 interviews to secure the job. In time, they may license me to sell and/or underwrite insurance policies... This might just turn out to be a long-term thing. Someday I may be able to look back and tell stories of the old system and then reflect on the new with new incoming hands... and be looked upon as a King.
